10 biggest mobile phone makers globally
Mobile phone sales continue their upward swing. Worldwide mobile phone sales to end users crossed 435 million during the second quarter of 2013, an increase of 3.6% from the same period last year.

According to research firm Gartner, the quarter also saw smartphones sales beat that of feature phones for the first time. While smartphone sales touched 225 million units, feature phone sales stood at 210 million units.

Wonder which were the companies who sold the maximum devices? Here are world's top ten mobile phone manufacturers as per sales.

Samsung

The number one mobile manufacturer in the world is Samsung. The company sold 107.5 million smartphones during the second quarter vis-a-vis 90.4 million mobiles it sold during the same quarter in 2012.

The company's global marketshare in the mobile market too went up to 24.7% from 21.5% in the previous year. 
Nokia
Nokia

At no. 2 is Finnish mobile giant Nokia. The company sold 60.9 million mobiles during the second fiscal of 2013. This is less than the 83.4 million mobile phone devices that the company shipped during the same quarter last year. Nokia's global marketshare too fell to 14% from 19.9% a year ago.
AppleApple

The third biggest mobile phone manufacturer in the world is Apple. The company clocked sales of 31.9 million during the second quarter of 2013 vis-a-vis 28.9 million it sold during the same quarter last year.

The company presently has 7.3% marketshare of the global mobile market, up from 6.9% in 2012.
LG Electronics
LG Electronics

The fourth position goes to South Korean electronic giant LG Electronics. With a global sales of 17 million during the quarter, the company holds 3.9% mobile marketshare globally.

The company witnessed a jump in sales over the second quarter of 2012 when it sold 14.3 
 million mobile phones and held a marketshare of 3.4%.

At number five is Chinese mobile maker ZTE with 15.2 million sales globally. ZTE too saw its mobile sales fall during the second quarter of 2013 compared to the same quarter of previous year.

The company sold 17.1 million mobiles during the second quarter of 2012 and held a marketshare of 4.1%. The company's marketshare dipped to 3.5% in the quarter ended July 2013.
Huawei

HuaweiAt number sixth position in the global mobile market too is a Chinese company, Huawei. The company saw a jump in its sales over the same quarter in the previous year. Huawei recorded a sale of 11.2 million mobiles during the second quarter of 2013, up from 10.8% during the same quarter in 2012.

The company's marketshare, however, remained static at 2.6%.

Lenovo

Chinese hardware giant Lenovo ranks at number seventh. The world's second-biggest PC maker sold 10.9 million phones during the second quarter of 2012. The company looking to expand in the mobile market has a marketshare of 2.5% in the global smartphone market, up from 1.6% Lenovo held during the same quarter in 2012.

TCL Communication

Chinese phonemaker TCL Communication ranks at number eighth on the list. The company's total mobile phone sales during the second quarter of 2013 stood at 10.1 million with a global marketshare of 2.3%.

The company sold 9.3 million mobile phones during the same quarter in 2013 and enjoyed a marketshare of 2.2%.

Sony Mobile Communications

The ninth biggest mobile phone maker in the world is Sony Mobile Communications with sales of 9.5 million phones during the second quarter of 2012.

The Japanese company's marketshare globally stood at 2.2% during the same period, up from 1.7% in the second quarter of 2012.

Yulong

At number 10 is again a Chinese mobile phone company, Yulong. The third-largest mobile manufacturer in China, the company sold 7.9 million phones during the second quarter of 2013. It's global marketshare stands at 1.8%, up from 1% during the same quarter last year.
