Nokia 106 and Nokia 107 feature phones unveiled


Nokia has announced two new feature phones, the Nokia 106 and Nokia 107.Both newly launched phones have almost identical design but a major difference is that the Nokia 106 is single SIM while the Nokia 107 comes with dual-SIM support.
nokia106-107-1-big.jpgThe Nokia 106 features 1.8-inch QVGA display with 128x160 pixels resolution and sport a pixel density of 114ppi. The device can store up to 500 contacts and also includes 32-polyphonic ringtones. The Nokia 106 comes with an 800mAh battery that the company claims can deliver up to around 10 hours of talk time and 840 hours of standby time, which is around 35 days. The device supports a single SIM but instead of a regular SIM it uses Micro-SIM. Other features include alphanumeric keypad, FM Radio and 3.5mm audio jack. Nokia 106 weighs around 74.2 grams.
The Nokia 107 also sports a 1.8-inch QVGA display with similar features as the Nokia 106. It packs a 1020mAh battery that can deliver up to 12.7 hours of talk time and around 835 hours of standby time, as per Nokia's claims. It supports dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) with dual SIM standby. The device comes with microSD card support up to 16GB. The Nokia 107 also supports Micro-SIM instead of regular SIM. The Nokia 107 dual-SIM weighs around 75.8 grams.
Both the handsets have been announced for Chinese market. The Nokia 106 will retail for $23 while the Nokia 107 will come for $25, excluding taxes and subsidies. The handsets are only expected to hit market in the third quarter. There is no word about the device's availability in other countries, though we spotted the Nokia 106 and Nokia 107 dual-SIM handsets on Nokia's India website.

Micromax Canvas Fun A76 with Android 4.2 available online for Rs. 8,499

Micromax has introduced a new smartphone, Canvas Fun A76, which has been listed on ecommerce website Snapdeal for Rs. 8,499. The company has not officially announced the launch, yet.
The Micromax Canvas Fun features a 5-inch FWVGA (480x854 pixels) display. The device is powered by a 1.2GHz dual core processor coupled with 512MB RAM. It sports a 5-megapixel rear camera accompanied by an LED flash and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It includes 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. The Micromax Canvas Fun runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and is a dual SIM (GSM+GSM) device. Connectivity options on the device include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, EDGE, GPRS and GPS. The phone includes a 2000mAh battery.
canvas-fun-1-big.jpgEarlier, Micromax's next phablet, the Canvas Doodle 2 was also spotted on an online retailer's listing with a coming soon tag. The company has been teasing the phone on its Facebook page, which is expected to be officially launched soon.
The Canvas Doodle 2 features a 5.7-inch HD display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. The device is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. It sports in a 12-megapixel rear camera accompanied by dual LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The device includes 12GB of internal storage, as per Flipkart's listing. The Canvas Doodle 2 runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. There is a 2600mAh battery that can give up to 8 hours of talk time, as per the listing. It is a dual-SIM device (GSM+GSM). Connectivity options include EDGE, GPRS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G.

BlackBerry 9720 OS 7 smartphone with touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard unveiled

BlackBerry has lifted the curtains off its next device, the BlackBerry 9720, which runs the legacy OS 7.1 instead of the revamped BlackBerry 10 platform.The BlackBerry 9720 boasts aesthetics similar to the company's Curve series. It features a full physical QWERTY keyboard and a 2.8-inch touchscreen display with a 360x480 pixels resolution, boasting an image density of 214PPI. The device runs BlackBerry 7 OS (version 7.1).
It is powered by an 806MHz Tavor MG1 processor and has 512MB of RAM. It sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with 4X digital zoom and image stabilisation, but lacks a front-facing camera. It also includes a 1,450mAh removable battery that delivers up to 7 hours of talk time and 432 hours of standby time. The device supports microSD cards of up to 32GB capacity, while the internal storage offered by the device is a meagre 512MB. The BlackBerry 9720 has dedicated BBM and BBM Voice shortcut keys, placed on the sides of the device. It also features FM Radio functionality.
Commenting on the launch of the device, Carlo Chiarello, Executive Vice President for Products at BlackBerry, said, "The BlackBerry 9720 smartphone gives you all the essentials of the BlackBerry smartphone experience to support a communications centric lifestyle. It has the best keyboard and functionality for BBM, as well as an updated BlackBerry 7 OS that adds many enhancements. It's perfect for customers upgrading from a feature phone or entry-level Android or Windows Phone device, as well as existing BlackBerry smartphone customers, that want a richer experience and jump up in style and performance."
The all new BlackBerry 9720 will be available in selected markets like Asia, EMEA and Latin America in the coming weeks. However, the pricing of the device has not been revealed yet.
Earlier, leaked images of the BlackBerry 9720 had appeared online.
The launch comes at a time when the company is in a state of turmoil and weighing options that could include an outright sale.

LG Optimus L7 II P713 available online for Rs. 13,789


lg-optimus-l7-ii-new.jpgA few months after the launch of the LG Optimus L7 II Dual, it appears that LG has now launched the single SIM variant of the phone, the Optimus L7 II P713, at a price of Rs. 13,789.

The phone has now been listed on online retailer Infibeam's website. It's available in White colour and sports the same specifications as that of the Optimus L7 II Dual. The listing was spotted by AndroidOS.in.

The LG Optimus L7 II is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8225 processor with 768MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage and microSD card support. It features a 4.3-inch IPS WVGA display and runs  Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

The handset measures 121.5 x 66.6 x 9.7 mm, and comes with a 2,460 mAh battery. The LG Optimus L7 II packs in an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash. The rear camera is capable of taking pictures via Voice Commands with CheeseShutter. The phone also sports a VGA front-facing camera for video calls.

The LG L7 II comes pre-installed with apps such as QuickTranslator, QSlide, and Live LG Mobile TV.

The dual SIM version of the phone, LG Optimus L7 II Dual is available for Rs. 14,249 on Infibeam. It was launched at a price of Rs. 14,990.
