We see Samsung devices all around. But let's face it. End of the day
they are nothing but plastic pieces. HTC and Sony phones not only have
better build quality but the metallic finish doesn't make the phone feel
cheap
Design
Don't you get bored of it? The same design phone
on phone. There's absolutely zero innovation by Samsung when it comes
to design. While HTC captured our hearts with the new HTC One, their
lower end phones though based on the same pattern, all sport a different
design. Sony too innovates and the look of the phone doesn't give us
any common man feel...
Hardware
Samsung might have the octa core processor but
that's just for the high end and those Silicon Valley guys who can
afford it. When it comes to base models, HTC and Sony hardware is not
just better but the phones overall are better performing.2
Camera
Samsung might have better camera software but
nothing beats a Sony camera on a smartphone. Especially after the launch
of Sony Xperia Z1 which boasts of an amazing camera experience. HTC
phones too, with their ultrapixel camera boast of better pixels.
Price
Samsung set new records with the pricing of
Samsung Galaxy Note 3. However, Sony and HTC flagships often come with
the same features as those of Samsung but at a lesser price. Also, the
waterproof features of Sony devices and classy design of HTC coupled
with Sense UI at the lower price are something to contend with

Times of India | Facebook has proposed "updates" to its privacy policies that explain how the social networking giant would use personal data of about 1.2 billion users to deliver advertising and other personalised services. The social network is proposing these updates as part of a settlement in a US court case relating to advertising, it said in a statement. The website has revised its two key documents -- Data Use Policy and Statement of Rights and Responsibilities -- to explain how a user's name, profile picture and content may be used in connection with ads or commercial content. The proposed updates say: "You give us permission to use your name, profile picture, content, and information in connection with commercial, sponsored, or related content (such as a brand you like) served or enhanced served or enhanced by us." The earlier policy line, "you can use your privacy settings to limit h...
A ROM, for those who don't know, is an operating system build that runs on your device with basic applications such as an address book, calendar, camera, etc. A major advantage of Android smartphones is that they can be operated by third-party systems and not only with the original ROM. Custom ROMs replace the pre-installed version of Android on devices. The substitution is made by a variation of the AOSP, adapted by volunteers with 'too much free time'. These volunteers often work more frequently than the manufacturer itself – at least when it comes to updates. AOSP? AOSP means Android Open Source Program. It is a version of the open source code of Android, developed by Google in its consortium of brands to offer a pure version of the system, which is available to anyone. It can be modified by developers without the need to follow standards of Google applications. Thanks to this project, the birth of custom ROMs like CyanogenMod, Paranoid Android, MIUI and others have...
